I'll start out by saying that I'm not an expert on wine and I probably never will be. Like everyone else I have my own preferences, tastes, opinions, etc. but I have no delusions that I'm right and someone else is wrong. The great thing I've learned about wine is that it can really surprise you in just how wrong you really are. The upside to this is that many of the times I've been wrong it's opened me up to something new that I probably wouldn't have found on my own. That being said, this blog will probably focus more on "new world" dry red wines, but I am absolutely not bound to those terms and I'm sure I'll feature some whites or some old world wines once in awhile.
I'm starting this blog mostly as an outlet for my ramblings after a 3rd or 4th glass of something amazing, but also to hopefully provide a different perspective for others. Even if all you know about wine is that it has alcohol in it, that's fine - you've got to start somewhere. Of course I love the smell and taste of wine, but for me it's more about being able to share something with friends and family that can bring up so many different topics of discussion. Even if it's not about the wine itself, there really is never a dull moment.
One of the other things I hope to really feature in this blog is one of my favorite aspect of wine - the chase. Deal hunting, researching, and just in general the search for something rare and amazing. This can be anything from finding an unbelievable wine on the clearance shelf in a dusty corner of your local wine shop to taking a chance and finding a great value on something you wouldn't normally consider.
I'm hoping to use this blog as not only a place to share the deals and finds I've uncovered but to help people who are just starting out with wine. It's easy to be completely overwhelmed at first and not understand much at all, but it's a very fun learning process and sometimes being wrong is just as fun as being correct.
